When is a complete denture the right solution?

A complete denture is made after the loss of all teeth in an arch, and also when the remaining teeth have a poor prognosis and require extraction. The absence of teeth leads to the collapsing of cheeks and lips, and makes eating and speaking difficult, which is why restoration should not be delayed. A carefully designed denture also restores proper support for facial tissues.

Working on a denture involves several carefully planned visits: anatomical and functional impressions, bite registration, and a wax try-in, during which we jointly assess the arrangement, shape, and colour of the teeth. We take care to individually select teeth matching the patient's facial features and age so that the effect looks natural. After delivering the denture, we schedule adjustment visits.

A well-made complete denture in the upper jaw stays in place by means of suction; in the lower jaw, stability is naturally lower. If the denture moves despite being made correctly, it is worth considering stabilising it on two or four implants, which radically improves comfort.
